 Burst the Bubble

Plans have recently been announced for both fixtures for the South Coast Derby between Southampton and Portsmouth to be given 'Bubble Trip' treatment. This means that the only fans allowed a ticket will be those who have also booked transport on official club coaches. Nobody will be allowed a ticket unless you also purchased a travel club ticket and you will not be issued your matchday ticket until en-route to the respective away ground.

We see that as not only a breach of our human rights but a breach of our freedom of movement and call on all football fans to support our campaign to ban these draconian measures against innocent football fans.

The trouble from last season between Southampton and Portsmouth in 2010 is well documented, with many arrests and around a dozen prison sentances handed out following disorder directly after the game. We believe this was avoidable however if the club had kept the away fans in whilst the area was cleared of home fans, instead of the tactics deployed by Hampshire Constabulary, which was to let both sets of fans out at the same time.

Of course the police are entitled and are operationally required to restrict movements of fans to some degree around the stadium during volatile games such as local derbies, keeping away fans in for a period after the game is one of these instance. However, we believe that everyone is entitled to travel to the game in whichever way they choose. For this reason we oppose the use of the draconian tactics being employed by Hampshire Constabulary and other Police units around the country.

Regardless of whether your team has been subjected to "Bubble Trips" or not, we ask you as football fans to come together and oppose this method which is changing the way football fans are allowed to support our team.
