Blackpool - Bloomfield Road |
 |
Last seasons surprise package of the Premier League, Blackpool has got to be the premier away trip for a lads weekender. Bloomfield Road is three quarters finished and the away fans are situated in a temporary East Stand, ableit a very posh one... with a roof! The allocation is generally around 2,500.
The facilities are not that good and as far as AwaySupporters are aware, alcohol is not served to away fans, and the facilities are basic. As this is a new ground and stand, if you have any experience of Bloomfield Road then please contact us and let us know.
Away from the ground, Blackpool is set up to be a great venue for a football weekender, plenty of clubs, the Pleasure Beach, plenty of more 'seedy' establishments. This should be one of the first away fixtures you look for.

Blackpool Promenade
Due to the fact that Bloomfield Road is around 2 miles from the town centre and the main railway station in, a good idea would be to pub crawl to the ground. If you head for the seafront on leaving the train station and head along the promenade, you will see plenty of pubs to keep you happy.
If you can recommend one in particular then please contact us. |
The Auctioneer, 235-237 Lytham Road, Blackpool, FY1 6ET
Tel: 01253 346412
Website: Wetherspoons - The Auctioneer
The Auctioneer is popular with away fans and is where you should head if you need your Wetherspoons fix early on. For those playing in Blackpool for a lunchtime kick-off, this pub opens at 7am if you are brave enough!
The pub is only a short walk to Bloomfield Road and has a mix of home and away fans. |
The Old Bridge House, 124 Lytham Road, Blackpool, FY1 6DZ
Tel: 01253 346917
Website: www.oldbridgeblackpool.co.uk
The Old Bridge House is a decent sized pub a short distance from Bloomfield Road and also welcomes away fans. This pub is a designated away fans pub on matchdays and can get quite busy, but has a good atmosphere.
* Please note no alcohol is served inside Bloomfield Road * |
Rail: The closest railway station to Bloomfield Road is Blackpool South which is a ten minute stroll from the stadium. However this is mainly a local line and most trains will stop at Blackpool North, which is more central. This station is about 2 miles away, but rather than grab a cab we suggest you slowly make a move along the promenade and stop at as many pubs as possible on the way.
Or... you could always catch a tram!
Leave the M6 at Junction 32, taking the M55 into Blackpool. If you continue straight along this road then it will take you straight past the ground. It is situated in between the Tower and the Pleasure Beach.
The closest place to park is a huge Pay and Display car park opposite Bloomfield Road which will set you about just over a tenner for 12 hours parking. If you are leaving straight after the game then be prepared to hang around for a while though.
*Please note* Most/All Pay and Display Car Parks in Blackpool charge 24 hours a day, so if your team is playing on a Sunday / Bank Holiday / Evening then YOU WILL STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR YOUR PARKING
