After 99 years at Ninian Park the club have moved into a new stadium literally next door ( less the a quarter of a mile away ) . The away fans are housed in one corner of the stadium, between the Ninian and Grange stands. The atmosphere around the ground is certainly more relaxed than Ninian Park, but it is still one of the more 'hostile' away trips to make.
As with Swansea, you are kept well away from the home supporters and outside there is a compound which you can expect the police to put your minibuses in, should this be how you are arriving at Cardiff.
Cardiff City has some great nightlife and is certainly worth a look as a choice for a weekender.
Hotel Search
If you are looking for a hotel, bed and breakfast of Guest House near The Cardiff City Stadium when your team plays Cardiff, please use our Hotel Search facility, which will give you the very best prices on the Internet.
There is a real shortage of away friendly boozers in the close proximity of The Cardiff City Stadium. Your best option would be to drink in the City Centre and make your way to the stadium from there. Most pubs in the area of the stadium are very unwelcoming for away fans, especially if your teams supporters have any sort of 'reputation' .
We will add a more comprehensive Pub Guide in good time, if you have any suggestions in the meantime then please contact us and we will add them to the guide.
Public Transport
Rail: The closest train station is Ninian Park Halt which is just a short walk from the stadium. However it is only served by local trains from Cardiff Central every 30 minutes on Saturdays.
The stadium is a 25 minute walk from Cardiff Central, which is probably your best option if you are looking to drink more centrally in Cardiff. Follow the crowds or ask the police for directions, we could put them on here, but you'd only forget them.
Directions
Leave the M4 at Junction 33 and take the A4232 towards Cardiff/Barry. Keep on the A4232 and exit at the B4267 exit. Turn left at the roundabout which is signposted "Cardiff International Athletics Stadium" . Drive for a short distance and you will come across the stadium.
Parking
Parking around the stadium is limited. If you arrive by minibus or coach then you may find yourself picked up at the motorway and led straight to the secure compound for away transport. There is street parking and your normal private matchday parking businesses surrounding the ground. Do not park in nearby retail parks as there is a 90 minute limit on parking.
