Manchester City - The Etihad Stadium |
 |
The City of Manchester stadium ( now known as the Etihad Stadium ) became the home of Manchester City after the Commonwealth Games, when it was converted from an Athletics Stadium into one of the best footballing venues in the country.
Away fans are housed in the South Stand, where the full allocation gives you both the upper and lower tiers and amounts to 3,000 fans. This can be raised to 4,500 for Cup games. Alcohol is served inside the ground and there is plenty of TV's in the concourse if you want to nip down early for your pint whilst keeping an eye on the game.
Manchester is a decent away day and the city has a decent nightlife, but please note that the police and stewards at Eastlands will eject and/or arrest an away fan for even the most minor offence. Standing up during the game is also punished with ejection, regardless of the fact that the home fans will be stood up either side of you.

The Printworks, Corporation Street, Manchester
Website: www.theprintworks.com
Due to the lack of decent pubs around the ground, one suggestion would be the Printworks in Manchester City Centre, close to Manchester Victoria train station. There is plenty of pubs in the area and lots of places to grab a bite to eat. There is also a connecting tram. |
The Bradford Inn, 112-114 Bradford Road, Manchester M40 7LS
Telephone: 0161 205 7853
The Bradford Inn is one of the few pubs near the City of Manchester Stadium that can be considered "away friendly" . The pub is about a ten minute walk from Eastlands and as long as you are not wearing colours, you should be OK in this pub.

Manchester City Centre

Due to there being a lack of pubs around the stadium, you might want to think about staying in Manchester City Centre and taking a taxi ( about £7 ) or taking a 40 minute walk to the City of Manchester stadium.

Rail: The closest train station to the City of Manchester Stadium is Manchester Piccadilly, which is about a 30 minute walk away. If you want to get a bit closer then get a train to Ashburys which is around a ten minute walk to the stadium.
A taxi from Manchester Piccadilly to the stadium should set you back about a fiver.
From the South: Leave the M6 at Junction 19 and take the A556 to Stockport, then joining the M56 towards Stockport. Continue on to the M60 passing Stockport and heading towards Ashton Under Lyne. Leave M60 at Junction 23, taking the A635 towards Manchester. Take the A662 Ashton New Road towards Droylsden and Manchester. Stay on the A662 for around 3 miles before you arrive at the stadium on your right.
From the M62: Leave the M62 at Junction 18 and join the M60. Then follow route as from the South.
There is some parking available at the stadium which costs £10 per car. Away fans are advised to use the East Car Park which is closest to your entrance. There is no street parking available within a mile radius of the City of Manchester Stadium.
If using the stadium car parks then be aware you will get the usual wait after the game.
There are plenty of unoffiical car parks in the area, charging about a fiver for each car. These will clear alot quicker than the stadium car parks.
