 Watford FC - Vicarage Road

Away fans are housed in the Vicarage Road end, which is behind one of the goals. This stand is normally shared with home fans who stand to your right. The turnstiles are the new style electronic ones, and you can expect to be searched on entering the stadium.

Generally speaking, a visit to Vicarage Road is a quiet and trouble free one. The locals are friendly and there is very little in the way of 'risk' supporters. The stadium is just outside London so makes for a decent night out after the match and it's easy to get to by road or rail.

If you are looking for a decent, quiet away trip then Vicarage Road could be a good bet.

 The Pub Guide

The Oddfellows, 14 Fearnley Street, Watford, WD18 0RD
Tel: 01923 225766

Oddfellows is a popular location for away supporters to gather and is only a few minutes walk from Vicarage Road. The pub is en-route to the stadium from the town centre and they even have a BBQ going in the beer garden if the weather allows. The pub does get busy but the service is good.

The Moon Under Water - 44 High Street, WD17 2BS
Tel: 01923 223559
Website: Wetherspoons Website

Located on the High Street, this Wetherspoons outlet is often popular with the away fans. It is spacious, with a large garden out the back, and of course it is open from the crack of dawn. It's about a 15 minute walk to Vicarage Road from this pub.

Walkabout - 76 The Pole, WD17 1AW
Tel: 01923 240688
Website: Walkabout Website

If you want to watch the lunchtime kick-off before your game with Watford then head to the Walkabout in the town centre, which boasts sports from around the world being played on numerous screens, decent food and reasonable beer. This is another popular haunt for visiting fans.

 Public Transport

Rail: The nearest station is Watford High Street, a ten minute walk away from the ground. However you are likely to come into Watford Junction train station, which is about a 20 minute walk. Either get a train to Watford High Street from Watford Junction or brave the walk.

Underground: Watford also has its own London Underground tube station, which is on the Metropolitan Line and is situated just under one mile from Vicarage Road. However overland trains from London normally have a shorter journey time.

 Directions

Leave the M1 at Junction 5 and take the A4008 into Watford. As you enter the town centre you should see the ground on your left.

 Parking

There are some private match day car parks available at some industrial units near the ground, as well as the Vicarage Road Girls School, which is close to the stadium and charges £5 per car. Alternatively you can park in the town centre area and take a walk in towards the stadium.
