West Ham United FC - Upton Park |
 |
Upton Park is a ground where any football fan must visit. Yes it has been affected by the corporate revolution in the Premier League, but it's still a proper ground with proper fans.
Away supporters are situated in the Centenary Stand, the initial allocation being 2,200 although this can be increased to 3,500 should your support warrant it. The atmosphere in the ground is unique and the famous " I'm forever blowing bubbles " rings out round Upton Park on numerous occasions.
For atmosphere and experience, Upton Park is one of the best stadiums in London and one that you should make the effort to visit.

One of the few pubs close to Upton Park where away fans can get a pint. It has plenty of West Ham fans drinking in their pre-match, but if you are not easily intimidated then it makes for a good pre-match pint.
To find this pub turn left out of Upton Park station and walk up to the mini-roundabout and you will see it. Not for the faint hearted but well worth a look. |
Millers Well, 419-421 Barking Road, East Ham, London, E6 2JX

Website: JD Wetherspoons
Just around the corner from East Ham tube station and opposite East Ham Town Hall is the local Wetherspoons pub offering the normal cheap beer and cheap grub, and opening from 9am.
It is a 20 minute walk along Barking Road to Upton Park from this pub, or you can jump back on the tube. This pub always seems to be popular with away fans. |
The Denmark Arms, 381 Barking Road, East Ham, London, E6 1LA
Tel: 020 8472 0535
Another pub on Barking Road, so be prepared for a 20 minute march up Barking Road to Upton Park pre-match. It's a decent sized pub which has Sky Sports if you are looking to catch one of the other games before/after your match with West Ham.
The pub is near East Ham Town Hall and is often popular with away fans. |
Rail: Forest Gate station is around a 25 minute walk from Upton Park and is served by trains from Liverpool Street station.
Underground: The nearest underground station to the stadium is Upton Park, which is on District as well as Hammersmith and City lines. The station is only a short walk to the ground. Please note that West Ham is actually nowhere near the ground, so don't get off at that station expecting the ground to be outside.
Leave the M25 at Junction 27 and take the M11 Southbound until it branches off and becomes the A406 North Circular, and take the A406 South. Leave the A406 at the Barking Junction. At the roundabout at the bottom of the slip road turn right towards East Ham on the Barking Road. Pass through several sets of traffic lights and East Ham town hall and you will see Upton Park on your right.
There is very little in the way of street parking close to Upton Park. There is some parking to the left of Barking Road, between the town hall and Upton Park. There is also cheap ( by London Standards ) parking at Newham Hospital, where you can park for as long as you want, prices for up to 6 hours are £3.50.
To avoid the traffic before and after the game, park in the suburbs and get a tube in.
