Wigan Athletic - The DW Stadium |
 |
Away fans are located in the North Stand, which can give you up to 5,400 tickets. To the left of the stand are the Wigan 'singers' . Please note though, they unfortunately are one of the teams to allow a drummer in.
The concourses tend to get crowded at half-time, so if you are looking at getting a pint during the break ( alcohol is served inside the ground ) then you are best off leaving a little bit early in the first half.
Wigan is not the best choice if you are looking for a weekender, but there are plenty of places around to stay. If you have any experiences of the DW Stadium then please let us know.

The Red Robin, 1 Anjou Boulevard, Robin Park Road, Wigan, WN5 0UJ
Tel: 01942 218965
A popular choice for home and away supporters as it is located only a couple of minutes away from the DW Stadium. The Wigan fans are a friendly bunch so you won't find any objections to drinking in this pub and can sometimes get very busy with away fans.
It's a large pub, the service is good and you can even grab a bite to eat here. |
The Moon Under Water, 5-7a Market Place, Wigan WN1 1PE
Tel: 01942 323437
Website: JD Wetherspoon
Here is your local Wetherspoon fix. It's a popular place for away fans and normally becomes the 'away' pub in Wigan. There is plenty of room in the bar and it is open from 7am. Handy if you're an alcoholic or your game kicks off at 12. |
Walkabout, 54-56 King Street, Wigan WN1 1BT
Tel: 01942 237439
Website: Walkabout Website
This is somewhere you might want to head if you are in a big group and want to stay out of the way. As with all Walkabouts, there is plenty of room and sports playing on the large screens. The beer is reasonable and it makes for a decent drink before the match.
The negative is that it's quite a walk to the stadium from here so you might want to get a taxi. |
Rail: Wigan Walgate and Wigan North Western railway stations are a 20 minute walk from the DW Stadium, but there are plenty of pubs along the way.
From the North: Leave the M6 at Junction 25, taking the A49 to Wigan. After 2 miles you will arrive at a large roundabout. Turn left at this roundabout into Robin Park Road and continue into Scot Lane. Continue down Scot Lane to arrive at the DW Stadium.
From the South: Leave the M6 at Junction 26 and follow the signs for Wigan Town Centre. Then turn left into Robin Park and Continue into Scot Lane. Continue down Scot Lane to arrive at DW Stadium.
There is a large car park at the stadium for away fans which costs £4 per car. £10 for minibuses and £20 for coaches. As with all stadium car parks, you might find yourself waiting for a while after the game though. Nearby industrial estates might seem like a good idea, but beware as a number of fans have recieved fixed penalty tickets as there is a 2 hour limit.
